Overview Computers and Internet access is available to students enrolled in the School Age program only. The Internet enables worldwide connection to databases, software and other information sources. The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, provides Internet access to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation and communication. Students must exhibit proper conduct and adhere to the outlined guidelines. If a student violates any of the guidelines or provisions disciplinary action, up to and including disenrollment, may occur. The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right and all usage is voluntary. Only one device is allowed to access the LCG-Student wireless network per authorization. If a child has more than one device, an authorization is required for each device. Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, will not be responsible for monitoring parent enforced limitations of device use (i.e. temporary ban from a device). Risk Every effort will be made to ensure that the Internet is only used for educational purposes; however it is impossible to control all materials on the Internet. Sites accessible through the Internet may contain material that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, inaccurate or controversial. There is a risk that students may access material that is not considered to be of educational value in the context of the school setting. Network Etiquette Students are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These include, but are not limited to: • Maintaining the security of the network by keeping information, especially passwords and account numbers, private. • Refraining from behavior or activities that damage or disrupt the performance of the network. • Using the network for approved, legal activities which have educational relevance. • Honoring all rules of copyright and personal property. • Avoiding the knowing or inadvertent spread of computer viruses. • Using only acceptable and appropriate language. Avoiding offensive or inflammatory speech. Inappropriate Use The use of the Internet must be in support of education and research. Inappropriate use includes, but is not limited to, those uses that violate the law; that are specifically named as violations in this document; that violate the rules of network etiquette; or that hamper the integrity or security of this network. Students are responsible for their actions in accessing available resources. Violation of Law Transmission of any material in violation of any international, US or state law is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material; threatening; harassing or obscene material; or material protected by trade secret. Any attempt to break the law while using The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, Internet account or while connected to the Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, IP address may result in litigation against the offender by the proper authorities. Vandalism/Mischief Vandalism and mischief are prohibited. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data of another user, the Internet or any networks that are connected to the Internet. This includes, but is not limited to, the deliberate creation and/or propagation of computer viruses. Sending unsolicited junk mail or chain letters is prohibited. Any interference with the work of other users, with or without malicious intent, is construed as mischief and is strictly prohibited. Consequences of Policy Violation Any attempt to violate the provisions of this policy may result in revocation of the student’s Internet access privileges. I further understand that any violation of the Student Pledge and Internet Use Agreement is unethical and may constitute a criminal offense. Should I commit any violation, my access privileges may be revoked. In addition disciplinary action, up to and including disenrollment, and/or appropriate legal action may be taken. Acceptance of this policy indicate(s) that I/we have read The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, Student Pledge and Internet Use Agreement, understand its significance, and voluntarily agree to comply fully with all terms and conditions therein. For Parent(s)/ Guardian(s): As the parent or guardian of this student, I have read The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, Student Pledge and Internet Use Agreement. I understand that The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, Internet use is designed for education purposes only. However, I recognize that it is impossible for The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, to restrict access to all controversial materials, and I will not hold The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, responsible for materials acquired on the network. I hereby give The Learning Care Group, parent company of Learning Care Group, parent company of Children's Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time and Montesorri Unlimited, permission to allow my child to access the Internet.
